A Differentiated Approach to Prevent Recurrence of Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia has limitations if only the visible parts are removed.

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a skin lesion caused by abnormally enlarged or increased sebaceous glands in the dermis layer of the skin.

Often, procedures involve only removing visible lesions with a laser.

While such methods can bring temporary improvement,

the underlying sebaceous gland tissue remains, and there is a possibility that the lesions may reappear over time.

We approach this problem differently.

We aim to reduce the likelihood of recurrence by removing surface lesions while simultaneously addressing the underlying internal cause.

Instead of simply removing visible symptoms,

we pursue a treatment approach that simultaneously improves both the cause and symptoms of sebaceous hyperplasia.

To achieve this, we perform a combined procedure utilizing two types of equipment.

1. Potenza Agnes RF (Insulated Radiofrequency 1-pin Needle)

By directly delivering high-frequency energy to the area where the sebaceous glands are located,

it utilizes the principle of selectively destroying problematic sebaceous glands.

Using insulated micro-needles, it avoids unnecessary damage to the epidermis or surrounding skin tissue,

and exclusively targets the problematic sebaceous glands during treatment.

This plays a crucial role in addressing the root cause of sebaceous hyperplasia.

2. Er:YAG Laser (Er:YAG)

It allows for more precise depth control compared to CO2 lasers,

and is used for the delicate removal of protruding sebaceous gland lesions.

By minimizing damage to surrounding tissue, it reduces recovery burden and the possibility of scarring.

Depending on the depth of the lesion, CO2 laser treatment can also be combined to enhance therapeutic effects.

This differs from procedures that only remove the surface.

CO2-only ablative procedures may only remove the visible portion, leaving the sebaceous glands intact, which can lead to recurrence.

Our combined procedure focuses on destroying the sebaceous glands themselves while clearing surface lesions, thereby reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

Sebaceous hyperplasia presents differently from common skin troubles.
