Erbium-YAG laser is an effective method for precisely refining the skin's surface. When removing shallow moles in the epidermal layer, this laser helps to gently shave off the mole area while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

This procedure minimizes scar formation, allowing for aesthetically pleasing results, and is particularly suitable for facial mole removal. Subsequently, a CO2 laser is used to precisely cauterize the root of the mole with heat. This process helps remove melanocytes that may remain in the deeper layers of the skin, thereby reducing the likelihood of the mole recurring.

A finishing process using a CO2 laser may be considered in the following situations:

If the mole is slightly raised or feels thick to the touch

If a mole has previously recurred in the same area

Application may also be considered if diagnosed as a nevus located deep within the dermal layer, such as blue moles or grayish-brown moles.

Flat warts are viral skin diseases caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They appear as widespread lesions in the epidermal layer of the skin, visible to the naked eye as thin, flat, small brown or flesh-colored lesions. They are particularly prone to appearing when immunity is weakened and can spread to other parts of the body, so early treatment is recommended.

Erbium-YAG laser helps to uniformly remove the epidermal layer. This procedure is used for widespread flat warts

to remove them at once. This method aims to evenly eliminate lesions while reducing the burden of skin damage. However, viral lesions may recur if only the surface is removed. In such cases, a finishing step using a CO2 laser to apply subtle thermal stimulation around the lesion can further remove virus-infected cells that may remain in the epidermis and its vicinity, contributing to a lower recurrence rate.

This laser precisely removes the skin's surface, opening the thin outer layer of the milium and helping to safely extract the trapped keratin. After the procedure, a gentle finishing cauterization with a CO2 laser can help reduce the possibility of remaining keratinocytes re-proliferating and prevent milia from recurring in the same area. However, excessive thermal stimulation to the skin can cause hyperpigmentation, so careful intensity control is required.

Syringomas are benign skin lesions caused by the excessive proliferation of sweat glands (eccrine glands) in the dermal layer of the skin. They primarily appear as small, firm, palpable lesions under the eyes, on the cheeks, and forehead. They are often observed in women in their 20s and 30s or due to genetic factors.

Erbium-YAG laser can thinly and delicately remove the epidermis, making it useful for managing syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes. This laser helps to refine the skin surface and remove the upper part of the sweat gland lesions, with a low risk of scarring or pigmentation during recovery, promising good cosmetic results. Subsequently, by delivering heat with a CO2 laser,

a finishing process that applies subtle thermal stimulation to the deeper parts of the lesion can help to weaken the excessive activity of sweat glands within the dermal layer.

This can help prevent syringomas from recurring in the same area. However, due to the depth of the lesions, multiple treatments may be necessary.

Skin tags are benign skin lesions that occur due to the excessive proliferation of fibrous tissue and blood vessels in the dermal layer. They commonly appear in areas where the skin frequently folds, such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and eyelids, presenting as small, skin-colored protrusions. While painless, they can become irritated by friction. CO2 lasers are typically used for skin tag removal, effectively and quickly eliminating the lesions. However, for small, thin skin tags, a method of precisely removing the lesion with an Erbium-YAG laser first, followed by finishing cauterization of the lesion's base with a CO2 laser, can be considered. This method helps remove the root tissue of the skin tag and can reduce the possibility of recurrence in that area. Thermal stimulation can affect fibrous cells and microvessels within the tissue, helping to inhibit regrowth.

Situations where combining CO2 laser finishing is beneficial include:

If skin tags are located in areas with frequent friction, such as the neck or armpits

If there is a history of skin tags recurring in an area previously removed

If the lesion's root is deep or wide, potentially leaving noticeable skin marks even after removal

Thus, considering the depth and characteristics of each lesion,

How long should I apply DuoDERM (sticker) after mole removal?

Mole removal procedures create physical changes by applying micro-stimulation to the skin's surface.

Therefore, it is very important to properly protect and manage the treated area after the procedure.

Maintaining a moist environment in the treated area can specifically aid skin recovery and reduce the likelihood of scarring.

For this purpose, we recommend applying hydrocolloid dressings, such as Duoderm.

Duoderm helps maintain a moist condition at the wound site, promoting cell regeneration and delaying scab formation due to dryness, which can reduce the possibility of scarring.

It is recommended to apply Duoderm immediately after mole removal and manage the area for at least 7 days, changing it every 3-5 days.

Generally, a total management period of about 10 days is recommended.

If using Duoderm is difficult or if an allergic reaction occurs, you should frequently apply a regenerative cream or moisturizing gel to prevent the skin from drying out. Additionally, it is advisable to carefully apply sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher and avoid touching the treated area.

Post-mole removal care is a crucial process that goes beyond simply protecting the wound, significantly impacting the outcome of the procedure.

If proper care is not provided, there is a possibility of scarring, so continued attention and caution are required even after the procedure.
