[Including Recurrent Moles] Mole, Protruding Mole Removal
Using CO2 laser and Erbium YAG laser, the procedure is performed according to the condition and depth of the mole. It can be applied to remove not only common moles but also protruding moles and recurrent moles, and is performed considering the surrounding skin. *VAT not included

Kkeut Clinic's Dual Laser Technique
*Moles are lesions caused by the excessive proliferation of melanocytes in the epidermis or dermis.
While they may appear as simple pigmentation, the treatment approach varies depending on their location and depth.
Erbium-YAG laser is specialized for precise, shallow ablation, allowing for the natural removal of superficial moles located in the epidermis without damaging the skin.
Furthermore, it minimizes scarring and offers excellent cosmetic results, making it particularly effective for facial mole removal. The subsequent process of using a CO2 laser to thermally cauterize the base of the mole helps reduce the recurrence rate by destroying any remaining melanocytes in deeper layers. This minimizes the possibility of 'recurrent moles' that appear to be removed on the surface but regenerate from a remaining root.
CO2 finishing is strongly considered in the following cases:
-If the mole is slightly raised or feels thick when pressed
-If there is a history of the mole recurring in the same area
-If it is determined to be a deep dermal nevus (e.g., blue nevus, gray-brown nevus, etc.)
*Flat warts are viral skin lesions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They spread within the epidermal layer and appear as thin, widely spread, small, brown or flesh-colored lesions. They tend to develop particularly when immunity is low and can spread through self-contact, making early treatment crucial.
Erbium-YAG laser is effective in evenly ablating the epidermal layer, making it useful for clearing extensive flat warts in one go. It can uniformly remove lesions while minimizing skin damage. However, due to the viral nature of the lesions, there is a risk of recurrence if only the superficial lesions are removed. In such cases, the finishing process of applying thermal damage to the surrounding area of the lesion with a CO2 laser can be a clinically meaningful treatment to further cauterize virus-infected cells that may remain in the epidermis and its surroundings, thereby reducing the recurrence rate.
CO2 finishing is particularly important in the following cases:
-If the lesion's border is unclear or feels flat and spread out when touched, especially for those with weakened immunity (due to stress, lack of sleep, etc.)
-If there is a history of multiple recurrences
-If the lesion is located in areas frequently touched or prone to spreading, such as hands or face
*Milia are lesions that appear as small, white cysts when keratin (a protein from dead skin cells) becomes trapped within the skin. They primarily occur around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and unlike sebaceous cysts, they are cosmetic lesions unrelated to infection or inflammation.
Erbium-YAG laser is highly suitable for milia removal. It precisely ablates the skin surface to remove the thin epidermal layer of the milia and opens a channel to safely discharge the trapped keratin. Lightly cauterizing with a CO2 laser afterwards helps reduce the potential for residual keratinocytes to proliferate again and prevents milia from repeatedly forming in the same area. However, precise intensity control is necessary, as excessive thermal damage to the skin can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
CO2 finishing is particularly helpful in the following cases:
-If milia repeatedly occur in the same location
-If the lesion reappeared during the regeneration process after previous removal
-When aiming for uniform results during the regeneration process after removing multiple milia
*Syringomas are benign lesions formed by the overgrowth of sweat glands (eccrine glands) in the dermal layer, characterized by multiple small, bead-like skin lesions under the eyes, on the cheeks, and forehead. They are especially common with genetic factors or in women in their 20s and 30s.
Erbium-YAG laser is suitable for treating syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes because it can thinly and precisely remove the epidermis. It refines the skin surface, removes the upper part of the sweat gland lesions, and offers excellent cosmetic results with minimal scarring or discoloration during recovery. Subsequently, the finishing method of applying heat with a CO2 laser to cause micro-damage to the deeper parts of the lesion is clinically significant in weakening the activity of the dermal sweat glands and preventing syringomas from proliferating again in the same area. However, as the lesions are deep, repeated treatments are often necessary.
The treatment effect is improved by combining CO2 finishing in the following cases:
-When multiple syringomas are relatively deep-seated under the eyes, on the cheeks, etc.
-When recurrence has been experienced despite multiple previous laser treatments
-When desiring the maximum recurrence prevention effect from a single treatment
*Skin tags are benign lesions caused by the overgrowth of fibrous tissue and blood vessels in the dermal layer. They commonly occur in skin folds such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and eyelids, appearing as small, flesh-colored, raised lesions. They are not painful but can become irritated by friction. Generally, a CO2 laser is more suitable for skin tag excision, as its excellent cutting and hemostatic effects allow for quick removal of multiple lesions. However, for small and thin skin tags, precisely ablating the lesion first with an Erbium-YAG laser, then using a CO2 laser to cauterize the base of the lesion, helps remove the root tissue of the skin tag and reduces the likelihood of recurrence in that area. Thermal stimulation has the effect of destroying fibrous cells and microvessels within the tissue, thereby inhibiting the regenerative environment.
CO2 finishing is strongly recommended in the following cases:
-If skin tags are located in areas prone to frequent friction, such as the neck or armpits
-If there is a history of skin tags recurring in the same area after excision
-If the root of the lesion is deep and wide (the type where a raised mark remains after excision)
Thus, depending on the depth and nature of the lesion,
combining two types of lasers,
the 'Dual Laser Technique',
is a key strategy to enhance the completeness of treatment.

Mole removal procedures involve exfoliating the skin's surface, which can cause physical damage to the skin.
For this reason, it is crucial to properly protect and manage the treated area.
In particular, keeping the treated area moist significantly affects recovery speed and scar prevention.
For this purpose, the application of Duoderm, a hydrocolloid dressing, is recommended.
Duoderm keeps the wound moist, promoting cell regeneration and delaying scab formation, thereby reducing the likelihood of scarring.
Ideally, Duoderm should be applied immediately after mole removal, replaced every 3-5 days, and managed for at least 7 days.
A total management period of about 10 days is recommended.
If using Duoderm is difficult or an allergy occurs, you should manage the area by frequently applying a regenerating cream or moisturizing gel to prevent dryness, thoroughly using SPF 50+ sunscreen, and avoiding touching the wound.
Post-mole removal care goes beyond merely protecting the wound; it is a critical process that determines the outcome.
Neglecting care can lead to scars, so consistent attention is required even after the procedure.
Kkeut Korean Medicine Clinic carefully guides patients on post-procedure care methods for their quick and healthy recovery.
Recommended for
- 1. Individuals who have been concerned about moles, lentigines (sun spots), milia, syringomas, or skin tags.
- 2. Individuals whose moles have reappeared after removal.
Procedure Steps
- STEP 01. Self-cleansing

Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
What is the aftercare for mole removal?
After the procedure, you should keep the wound moist by applying a regenerative tape for 2 weeks. After that, to prevent pigmentation, we recommend applying sunscreen when going out, and applying a regenerating cream after removing the tape ^^
If the mole is not completely removed, when can I get a re-procedure?
If the mole is deep or protruding, it may not be removed in a single procedure. Re-procedures are possible after at least two months, and 2-3 sessions are recommended.
When can I exercise after mole removal?
It is not good to sweat a lot, so it's best to avoid swimming or strenuous exercise for a week ^^
